Life breaks us and when we heal, we're stronger in the broken parts.-Ernest Hemingway
I am walking to Make a Difference!
Educate. Support. Join the LOCAL Fight!
On Sunday October 16th, I will walk in the 16th annual Walk For AIDS
Silicon Valley. HIV/AIDS continues to be a deadly disease that causes
much heartache, pain and suffering for thousands in our community. Yes,
the miracle drugs once touted as a cure have indeed taken some from
their deathbeds back to the working world. Yet, at the same time, many
others still cannot tolerate the extreme side effects of these drugs.
Others have grown resistant to these drugs, putting them back to square
one, waiting for the next door to open, hoping for another answer.
Additionally, goverment funding has been drastically cut.
Young people between the ages of 16-24 and our communities of color are
becoming infected with HIV at alarming rates, making education,
awareness and prevention among these groups extremely important. I’ve
seen the impact individual donations are making in the following ways:
- Funding for HIV/AIDS support groups for monolingual Spanish-speakers
- HIV Prevention Workshops and presentations involving thousands of teens, and street outreach to high-risk youth
- Direct legal services
- Workshops targeting homeless, including condom distribution to at-risk adults
You can help me meet my fundraising goals by making a pledge today! Together, we CAN make a difference!
My goal is $50 but I know with all your support it can be more than that. Thank you.
